FAB Gelato Comes To Linden
About a year ago I was invited to the opening of this little gelato shop that had opened in Parkhurst, and I promptly wrote a blog post about it, because, well, the ice cream was kinda life changing. I’ll admit, since then, my relationship with FAB Cafe & Gelato has been pretty consistent – that is if you can call complete and utter obsession a ‘relationship.’ At least once a month, most months, I’ll find some excuse for Ant and me to take a little trip to Fab in Parkhurst and partake in a cheeky scoop or two of their amazing creations – we’ve developed favourites, tried what must be hundreds of favourites, expanded our waistlines, and generally just been very, very happy. So, you can imagine my JOY when I found out that FAB Gelato would be coming to Linden – and setting up shop pretty much right underneath my apartment.
Opened (like it’s big sister store in Parkhurst) by the team behind my number one restaurant in Joburg, The Fat Zebra, the Linden branch of FAB is slightly bigger than the flagship store, which is great news because it’s been packed pretty much every time I’ve gone past since it opened last week. Thankfully, though, the delicious creamy gelato is just as wonderful as it is in Parkhurst – in fact, it might be even better. But that may well be me being biased because I’m loving the fact that I can walk to the new Linden spot without even having to break a sweat. If I thought Parkhurst was bad for my waistline, this one is going to require me buying a whole new wardrobe.
Complete with crazy good coffee, breakfast and lunch, and of course their signature Belgium waffles, there’s really no excuse for not making a trip to FAB… and then another, and another, and another. My amazingly talented friend Duncan Errington joined me for some cheeky midday waffles and ice cream and took all of these ridiculously lovely pictures.
Do yourself a solid favour and go grab a scoop of fifteen soon.
