Good Music Fridays
The songs my ears are going crazy for this week.
Definitely the most played song on my iTunes at the moment. Google tells me that Kiiara works in a hardware store in Illinois, but if this track is an example of what she does in her spare time, I’d wager that she won’t need her day job much longer. Her voice is so distinctive and I love the beat. Also check out her song ‘Feels.’
Billie Eilish has this crazy amazing voice, and she’s only 13 – let that sink in for a second and weep at how little you’ve achieved in your life. Jokes aside, this mellow song is fantastic, and her voice is so smooth and strong. I’m thinking (and hoping) she’ll go the same way as Birdy (who is now 19 – where have the years gone?)
So much girl power this week. I love the concept behind Sia’s new album – it’s all music that she wrote for other artists, so (in her words), ‘I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go in thinking ‘this is something I would say’. It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.’ This song was written with Kanye West, and it’s catchy and upbeat – just what I need on a Monday morning.
Oh man, this song. It does things to my heart. Do you see a theme developing here? I don’t know much about Anteros (yet), but I know that they’re great and I’m gonna mission to see them live someday. Also check out their song ‘Fade to Grey.’
I only recently found Litany, and basically all I know about them is that they’re called Jake and Beth, they come from Harrogate, and they make great music. This is such a good song to have on in your car, or in your room while you’re getting dressed, or in the kitchen when you’re cooking dinner, or in your headphones while you’re working or – actually, it’s a great song to have playing at any time.
