MBFWJ and Topshop Day 2
I have SO MUCH TIME for a good patterned mini skirt. I think I have about 5 in my drawer, and I love them because they’re so versatile. In winter I dress them down with a warm jumper and stockings, and in summer you can pair them with a plain Tshirt and some flats for a chilled day look (the other thing I have a million of are plain tshirts. I’ve got black, white, and grey ones in pretty much every style.) So when I saw this skirt at Topshop I took one look at it and knew I needed that bad boy on my legs pronto (ooh, err…)
For my second day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week I decided to go a little bit casual. I like the fact that my style can change quite a bit over the space of a couple days (or even the space of a couple hours) and, while I love a good pair of heels and I’m always always keen to dress up, I also love my sneakers and jeans and backpacks. The fact that backpacks are back in is a total joy to me – there’s nothing worse than lugging a huge bag around and getting a sore shoulder because, if you’re like me, there are always a billion things in your bag. (Okay, there are definitely worse things. But you get what I mean.)
After an awesome first day at MBFWJ with my lovely #Fashpack She Said and Lulamawolf I was really amped to get back to the giant glass marquee, though admittedly pretty exhausted too. (is fashpack a thing? It should be. It’s like a Wolfpack but we talk more about shoes and also laugh at ourselves A LOT) Basically, I knew I needed to be comfortable and feel pretty, and this is the outfit I landed on. I’m so glad I did – I really like this look.
The star of the outfit is obviously the skirt. Though short (GET YA LEGS OUT) it was really comfy, fitted well, and I LOVE a good high waist. I had to be a little careful not to flash the world when sitting down, but that’s a daily hazard for me anyway as the single most clumsy human on earth. I paired it with a simple white Topshop fitted T, and my favourite gold shoes from Madison: The Heart of New York. If you don’t believe in the occasional shiny shoe, I’m really not sure if we can be friends.
It was really great having a backpack for the night so I could put my camera and all my stuff on my back, cause whenever I have a small bag I end up taking things out and then leaving them all over the place. I opted for this beautiful black suede fringed Topshop one – it’s pretty much the perfect size, and I love it.
Really amped to pair these pieces with a few other things going forward, too. What do you think?
