Sunday Fun Day at Wolves
Wolves is a Joburg institution. If you haven’t spent a birthday there eating their incredible Red Velvet cake, or an evening there listening to comedy or lovely live music, then I genuinely have no idea where you’ve been for the last 5 years, because it clearly wasn’t with me. We were really excited to head down there yesterday for a fun day to celebrate the launch of their new menu and listen to a few bands – the perfect Sunday activity if you ask me.
We got a little peak at the kind of things that are now going to be available on the menu, and it’s pretty darn exciting. They’ve introduced ‘Chicken and Waffles’ (who even is Tim Noakes?), a ‘Salted Caramel Stack’ of flapjacks, and a ‘Wolves Cheese Burger,’ which comes branded with a W on top and a delicious helping of fries. So tasty.
Being the breakfast beast that I am, I ordered the ‘Skillet Eggs’ – eggs, balsamic cherry tomatoes, feta, rocket and chorizo served with crusty bread.
One of the best things about Wolves is that they’re getting new exhibitions in all the time, so you can see different artists (both old and new) and, in my case, order a few prints when you’ve had a few beers and then get in trouble with Ant (sorry) when you get home because we really don’t have any more space on a walls. Oops.
It’s so lovely to see a favourite like Wolves still going strong – and, even better than that, they’re coming up with fantastic new menu ideas and making sure that there’s something for everyone there.
Whether you’re a Wolves regular or you’ve never been before, get yourself down there to try the new menu out and play some Jenga. Tell them I sent you, and order the Gin Garden Cocktail – it tastes like happiness in a glass.
