Travel Essentials – Lou Harvey

I’ve been lucky enough to have been doing quite a lot of travelling lately. If you’re following me on Instagram (come on, you know you wanna) you’ll know that last month I got to spend 4 glorious weeks revisiting my old stomping ground in the UK, as well as visiting my lovely besty Tanya in Oslo for the first time. It was so great to get to see all of my friends and family there and soak up some European summer sunshine (it does exist!) and I came home with a tan, a massive smile on my face, and a significantly reduced bank balance – totally worth it though. Over the next couple weeks, I’m going to share some of the travel essentials that I’ve learnt I can’t live without after travelling a fair bit in my life, starting with these AMAZING pieces from Lou Harvey.

Lucy Sarah and Lou Harvey

It’s not secret that I LOVE Lou Harvey – I wrote about her store for Mother’s Day, and I’m always sporting a little something with the LH initial (WE HAVE THE SAME INITIALS, GUYS) in my handbag. And when I’m going away, wether its just for a weekend or for a bigger extended trip, Lou always comes with me. Having stalked the new Lou Harvey website and fallen head over heels with some of the newer designs, I decided to take a little trip there before I headed overseas to stock up on my travel essentials.

I am a GREAT believer in a versatile cosmetics bag. Big enough to fit all my products in, but small enough to fit into my backpack, this Double Cosmetic bag is perfect for me. I love that it has two zips so that you can put smaller things (and in my case, brushes) into the front, and this bright pattern (it’s called Nicola) is super easy to find if you’re like me and you have a million things in your suitcase or handbag. In this photo I haven’t put much into the bag, but you’ll be AMAZED by how much it can fit. It’s like a mini Mary Poppins bag especially for your favourite things i.e.: make up.

Then I definitely needed a new toieltry bag. I know some people are all about taking as few toiletries as possible when they go away, but that isn’t really an option for me – my hair alone is like a 5-step product process. And while I respect the concept of ‘If I need something, I’ll just buy it while I’m there,” my bank balance is not a fan of that idea, especially when you’re paying in Pounds. So, the Gusset vanity was a flippen lifesaver for me. It’s big, but malleable (so you can squish things in around it) and I was able to pack everything I needed for the trip – aforementioned 5-step-product-process included. As with all Lou Harvey products, the fabric is extremely durable, and can be wiped clean both inside and out. I chose mine in the amazing Gabriella fabric (which, just btw, perfectly compliments my pink suitcase) and it made me happy every time I packed it up to head off to somewhere new.

Lastly, I nabbed myself a new Passport cover with the awesome Sophie Blue print (how great are these names?!) I’ve never actually used a passport cover before, but I knew that I would be moving around a lot and was a little worried about my only means of getting home getting damaged along the way. The passport cover did the trick beautifully, plus it looked super cute and was REALLY easy to find in my overstuffed hand luggage when I was at the airport. Which is good when you’re as scatterbrained as I am.

If you haven’t already, I seriously suggest heading over to the new Lou Harvey website and having a little poke around. Apart from being really beautiful (can I just Pinterest everything there, please?) it’s also really easy to navigate, so you can search by product, fabric pattern, or even just have a browse around. It’s easy to build your wish list up pretty quickly on the site.

With a new range coming out very soon, I’ve got some exciting things to share with you guys – so watch this space!

Lucy
